Peninsula Practice is a work family who are devoted to the NHS, serving you, our patients living in our communities with passion and expertise to provide the healthcare that you need.

We uphold our practice values of being patient-centred, caring, accountable, fair and professional.

You might not see all of us, as many of us work behind the scenes, and we are all here to ensure that the service we provide you is the best it can be.

Our pateints, are at the heart of all our decisions, and always in the context of staff capacity and resourcres available.

From your first contact with the practice, to discussions with the dispensers, nurses, doctors, other clinicians, social prescriber, physio etc and including the administration team and medical secretaries, we are all working hard for you.

Doctors

DR LINDSEY CROCKETT

BSc (Hons), MBBS, MRCGP, DFSRH (Senior Partner).

Female. Qualified in 1999 at Royal London and Barts hospital. Dr Crockett was a GP in Surrey until January 2010 when she moved to Suffolk. “ I’ve felt privileged to be part of an excellent team and work family where the individual needs of every patient is attended to". Recognising that time and resources are limited, Dr Crockett and her team's ambition is for every patient to feel heard and their needs met. She also works in a strategic role as the Associate Professional Director for End of Life care and frailty for the Integrated Care Board for Suffolk, advocating for the severely frail. Lindsey is also the pioneer and clinical lead for the compassionate companion service across Suffolk.

DR JAFAR SHAHABI

MD, MSc, MRCGP (Partner)

Male. Dr Shahabi qualified in medicine from the Shahid-Beheshti University in Tehran in 2004. After working for a couple of years in Iran, he moved to the UK in 2008. He studied Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Neuroscience at Roehampton University in London. He then moved to Suffolk in 2011 and did his training at the Peninsula Practice and Ipswich hospital. He returned to the Peninsula Practice in 2021. “After working for years in Ipswich, I decided to come back to Peninsula Practice, as I had such an amazing experience and feeling to work for such a wonderful practice and patients.”

DR GIHAN NANAYAKKARA

Ph.D., MRCGP., MbChB., BSc (Salaried GP)

Male. Having studied as an undergraduate and then going on to research tropical disease and dermatology at King's, Guy's and St Thomas' London, he qualified in medicine in 2011 from Warwick University. Dr Nanayakkara moved to Suffolk in 2014 where he did part of his GP training at the Peninsula Practice, before joining as a salaried GP in 2017. “I had such a wonderful and welcoming experience training at the Peninsula Practice, from staff and patients alike, that I was certain I wanted to return to join the team."

DR IAN RUDLAND

DR RUPERT BOYCE-BOWN

MBBS MRCGP Male. Qualified in 2018 at Bart's and the London School of Medicine. He was a GP in Cornwall until summer 2024 when he moved to Suffolk. “I enjoy the variety of rural GP practice, and particularly the care of older patients and those with complex histories. Joining Peninsula Practice offered me the opportunity to continue working in areas I love". When possible, he also works alongside consultant Geriatricians in A&E over the winter months, helping to support frail older people when they are taken to hospital.

Practice Management

The Practice Manager ensures that all the processes within the surgery run smoothly. The role includes the operational day-to-day responsibilities and dealing with non-clinical issues as they arise.

Care Navigators

Our Care Navigators are often the first contact you have with the practice. They have a difficult job but are always trying to help. When you call the surgery to make an appointment, our Care Navigators will ask you the reason for your call in order for them to direct you to the most appropriate health care professional. All our staff are trained in confidentiality.

Social prescribers can help with a wide range of emotional and practical matters that may be affecting your health and wellbeing. They have expert knowledge on the support services and groups that are active in your local community. By listening to what matters to you, they can help connect you to local groups, services and activities that will support you to make positive changes to your health and wellbeing.

Primary Care Network

Primary Care Networks (PCN) are groups of GP practices working closely together - along with other healthcare staff and organisations - providing integrated services to the local population. This enables us to offer additional services, and as more PCN staff are recruited patients may be contacted by the PCN staff when appropriate within their clinical care.
